Counselling

House of Self provides dynamic, effective counselling, psychotherapy and coaching services in Surbiton, Kentish Town and Angel.

Individual counselling

*Please note, we are currently operating all counselling and psychotherapy sessions online.

We are all unique and so are the life events we experience. Individual counselling sessions consider how we react to such experiences, why we feel the emotions we feel and why we respond to circumstances in certain ways.

These experiences may be from early childhood, a past relationship or recent events. In all cases, counselling offers the chance to explore them and develop a deeper understanding of their impact upon you.

Working with one of our counsellors you will find a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space in which to discuss past and present issues. Once those issues are explored and understood, you are then able to consider ways to positively address them and their impact on your life.

House of Self currently offers online counselling services for individuals across the UK.

About counselling

*Please note, we are currently operating all counselling and psychotherapy sessions online.

Counselling involves talking with a trained professional (either a counsellor or psychotherapist) to explore specific aspects of your life that are causing you problems with the aim of making things better. Research has shown counselling to be an effective therapy for a range of problems.

There are many different types of counselling available at House of Self including psychodynamic, person-centred, integrative, cognitive behavioural therapy, psychosexual and bereavement counselling.

Each counsellor will have their own way of working with clients and this will be determined by the approach or approaches they are trained in, their background and their experience. Although each therapist has a unique background, all are experienced professionals able to work with you on a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, addiction, grief, health concerns, eating disorders and behavioural issues.

We offer short-term therapy with sessions lasting from 6-18 weeks as well as longer-term, open-ended therapy which may be more suitable if you are considering on-going support.

Low-cost counselling

*Please note, we are currently operating all counselling and psychotherapy sessions online.

Our low-cost therapy service is for individuals who are unemployed, in receipt of state benefits or registered as disabled. Sessions last 50 minutes and are held at a regular time slot each week. Secure and encrypted video services will be facilitated by a trainee psychotherapist or counsellor. We are really passionate about reducing the barriers to accessing counselling & psychotherapy and believe everyone should have access to our service.

Our low-cost session fee is £35.00.

Low-cost sessions are available during weekdays at off-peak times. Our low-cost counsellors and psychotherapists are either in training, working towards qualification or accreditation.

For those unable to afford the cost of counselling at all, we run a ‘pay it forward’ option where fees may be subsidised by sponsorship or somebody else. At present, this scheme has reached full capacity but if you would like to join the waiting list for this, please get in touch with us.
